Save on iPhone with Safari

Check Safari’s download

1. Open VidTote in Safari, paste the public Facebook video link and find the video.
2. Choose an available MP4 and tap Save MP4. Follow any browser download prompt.
3. Open Safari’s downloads control and wait for the download to finish. Its position can vary with your Safari layout.
4. Open the downloaded item. If necessary, open Files and find the download in the location set for Safari, such as iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.
5. Play the file and check its picture and sound. A stream-finished message on this page does not replace that check.

Move a compatible file to Photos

VidTote cannot place a file directly into Photos. The available actions depend on iOS and the downloaded file’s format.

1. Open the completed file in Files.
2. Open the system Share menu.
3. If Save Video is offered, select it and then check Photos for the video.
4. If that action is absent, keep the file in Files. Try another available MP4 quality or a compatible player rather than assuming it was saved to Photos.

When the first method fails

Open Other ways to save. Try browser download, or open the video file and use Safari’s available controls. Opening a file can play it without saving a persistent copy.

If Share file is available, the file must finish preparing first. Tap Share file again when prompted; a fresh tap is needed for the system share sheet. Check what the share sheet actually offers.

Use Safari outside an app

An in-app browser may not support streaming downloads or sharing. Use its Open in Safari option if available, or open VidTote manually in Safari and paste the public link again.

If a saved MP4 has no sound or will not play, try another available quality. Unknown source audio or codecs are not a promise of iPhone compatibility.
